By John Passant, published 7/6/2010

The ACTU should support the international boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign against Israel.

Why is the US allied with a Country (Turkey), which is working & sharing intel with America's biggest enemy (Iran), in order to attack two of the United States ONLY allies in the Middle East (Israel & Kurdistan). The combined air/artillery strikes on Kurdistan by Iran & Turkey, which killed numerous civilians on 21/5/2010 hasn't even been mentioned (of course, Kurdish civilians aren't anywhere NEAR as important as Turkish Terrorists: http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE64K4W520100521)

As to the ACTU stopping anything now, the unions have been gutted by the Right-Wing so exactly what can they achieve, or are you going to ask Mr Corrigan nicely to help? Unfortunately, the ACTU that remains, would be hard pressed to stop a dog fight and the ADF WILL fill the breach. They too have to go out on operations, which can go awry, they'd be wondering where Mr Rudd will leave them if they do... Swinging in the breeze for Political points? I expect he would

The unions can do as they please; but, if they are really a sensible and worthwhile group, they will realise that Israel is merely doing what it has to do to proctect itself from terrorists. Cargoes of humane aid can be taken in through Israel itself; but, no: encourged by Western renegades and ratbags, they have to confront one of the best military forces in the world, and then complain about being 'massacred' by soldiers who started off using paint guns, but who had to revert to deadly force because they were being stabbed and beaten by terrorist activists.

Could someone please explain why we are even talking about a humanitarian crisis in Gaza (which by the way has borders with both Egypt and Israel-why don't you complain about Egypt?). According to all reports including UN reports 10's of thousands of supplies come in through Israel every week and there is no shortage of food, gas or supplies. So why is there a flotilla? For aid? To protest about the humanitarian plight of the Gazans (who are Egyptian and not Palestinian by the way)?
Try and convince me that the rapist of Darpur women and murderers of their children care about the humanity of the Palestinians. That countries that do not even have a modicum of human rights take to the street to care about the Palestinians. I would say the rage is misdirected.

Now let's get this right. For 1000 yrs the Palestinians had a country called home. Then after WW2 the USA and Britian decided that the Jews needed a home state and the Palestinians progressively became marginalised. Now Israel wants to finish them off.Why weren't the Palestinians integrated into Israel, like Australia integrates many cultures? Why can't Israel tolerate one culture, yet we here in Australia tolerate and assimilate hundreds of differing religious and socio-economic backgrounds?

Does Israel really believe that it is god's chosen people ordained to dominate the entire planet?

Unions should be led by men or women who actually represent THE MEMBERS interests and not the narrow sectarian "stalinist" agenda of Passant and ilk.

Let's fact it John...you blokes don't care squat about your members.. you only care about getting and keeping POWERRRRRRR.. that's why you get elected on the back of unsustainable promises for 'wages and conditions' and when the company moves to China.. all you can do is bleat about 'reduncy payments and entitelments'... you cannot bring their jobs back..EVER.. but you screwed them by screwing their companies.. but hey..what does that matter you YOU? After all.. your union mates will look after you. (the bosses I mean)..while the mortgage paying ex workers suffer... fine job!

Now..you expect credibility over a boycott of Israel?

Hey David G.

"I support any action which will stop the world's most dangerous rogue state before they drag the world into a nuclear war."

That's entirely irrational. I mean IRRRRRRational. How the hell can a nation which simply walls itself off from those who would attack it.. 'drag' anyone into a Nuclear war ?
Israel has been attacked countless times..and THEY are going to "drag" us into a nuclear war ? with who might I ask ?

Doncha think that if they were going to use Nukes they would have DONE so when all the Arab states surrounded and invaded them?

Get therapy David please..
