A review of Edmund Campion's biography 'Ted Kennedy: Priest of Redfern' : Comments

By Gary MacLennan, published 22/4/2010

There is a thought that has haunted me for a long time…It is to portray a wholly good man. Nothing is more difficult …especially in our time.

Oh the bitter irony that two Kennedys were assassinated (if not physically, metaphorically) by the catholic church.

The emerging literature is increasingly pointing to the Holy Roman Apostolic Church as a misogynist, homophobic, unforgiving reactionary mob controlled by bigots. Riddled with corruption and cover ups, they slay the very ones who can save them.

Sad isn't it?

According to Wikipedia:

"The Church teaches that its bishops, through apostolic succession, are consecrated successors of these apostles, and that the Bishop of Rome (the Pope) as the successor of Peter possesses a universal primacy of jurisdiction and pastoral care."

That seems pretty clear to me. The Pope calls the shots, and what he says goes, no matter how stupid or criminal it is. Anyone who voluntarily joins an organisation with rules like this has nobody to blame but themselves when they get shafted.

If Father Kennedy wanted a boss elected by popular vote then he should have quit religion and gone into politics.
