By Aaron Bernstein, published 4/5/2010Unless checked, the continued increase of our numbers on the planet is more than likely to result in serious consequences for human health and we risk placing short-term advantage over long-term gain at our own peril.

Be it populations in the future, fallen economies, credit crunch or climate change... I can only see the dire need for a 'see change' now.
We need to address human rights, change market policies and learn to use the law.
We need to address what we have pledged in the 'International agreed Millennium Development Goals and Global Commitments', be it for ourselves inside Australia or with the rest of the world.
For me the only way we are to keep populations down, forecast and maintain stability is to deal with the issue of consumerism and unfair world trade. Be it our garbage in the oceans or tax. Be it income or partnership, something has to give.
While I have vision - rural- regional and urban ideas for infrastructure and planning it is no good without the "whole" picture faced with political will and responsibility.
People need to come to Australia now.
The World refugee issue needs attention now.
The worlds uneven trade market needs to be dealt with now or the true value of capitalism will always be out of our grasp.
It is the only way we have hope to reduce war-torn-conflict and poverty - so people don't feel need to flee, their own mother lands because of conflict. To balance the world population, by working for world-wide population stability, by working for equality.
This is what the Doctors for the Environment Australia wrote with regard to "Environmental Refugees".

For myself, I am amazed how urgent no longer means urgent. That so many millions and millions of mothers and children are allowed to float in crisis as we bystand and watch - scrap about immigration policies as if we are the ones that have lost the bone .
What will occur if the predictions of sea-level rise begins.
Who are we without a strategy if we cant see through the field now?
