I'm surprised by Fawaz Gerges whole article its surreal, does he think that the illegal invasion had anything to do with introducing democracy in to the Middle East?

From the outset it was Washington searching for a suitable ally to ensure a steady supply of oil. The “elected” government had no power. It couldn't even get justice for its citizens when the gun ho Black Water mercenaries indiscriminately killed them.

This was no example of a free and democratic state for others to emulate when the real rulers of the country was the USA and they were none too subtle about it.

This election is just another farce engineered by President Obama who wanted a government in place as he withdrew his troops but not all his troops he reserved the right to guard the green zone the US will still control Iraq.

In the Middle East and show me one democratic state allied with the USA?

Do you think Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt (American allies) Iran and Syria want anything to do with a free, secular, democratic state?

Do you honestly think that America wants to see these countries free to develop and grow? NEVER

No, dictators and Kings make for reliable allies, democracies are messy.

If the will of the people prevailed they will reach the conclusion that it is impossible to defeat nuclear Israel militarily, it is impossible to make peace with Israel as when given a choice between land and war Prime Minister Netanyahu has made it abundantly clear land.

The people will discover that their sole source of power to secure justice for the Palestinians and Israel forced to conform to UN resolutions and allow the Palestinians their own country and peace to prevail in the Middle East is oil. Turn off the oil and that would leave the world economy led by America where exactly? That is the one and only reason Iraq was invaded.
