China's stimulus spending on infrastructure programs is immense. The obvious question is, where is the money coming from?

What has been described here is insanity rampant and can only end badly.

Given the nature of power and human frailty, one presumes that any excess capacity in the steel industry will be soaked up by defence projects, maybe with some market benifit.
Interesting times we live in. The US has infrastructure but reduced
capacity. Decaying wealth with an increasing problem of renewal.
Should we buy the F35?

Without going deeply into any of the other issues raised in the article, what is the point of posing the question "where is the money coming from?".

I mean really, what is the point?

What is the point of asking where the Chinese government gets the Chinese currency from and can they afford to spend the amount they are spending?

I continue to be amazed at the never-ending insistence by the dominant thought paradigm that the budget of a sovereign government that issues it's own currency works just like a bigger version of a household budget. The household is the USER of the currency and must finance it's spending - a sovereign government is the ISSUER of the currency and has no need to finance it's spending from any other source (not the same thing as saying they should spend indefinately).
