By Bren Carlill, published 21/10/2009

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is playing a dangerous game. If not careful, he may find his country embroiled in military conflict.

I agree entirely with what is expressed in this article.

It is very likely that the Iranian situation is approaching a climax. The Iranians are continuing their cat and mouse game and stalling. The logical conclusion from this is that they are attempting to buy time to get nuclear weapons to a usable state.

It is likely that the Israelis will soon insist on a strike and force the hand of the US because of the threat to the oil traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
A coordinated strike would be more effective and is the scenario with the highest probability.

An attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would have serious immediate consequences.
This has to be balanced against the consequences of allowing a rogue state like Iran to acquire nuclear weapons in such an unstable region.

..and in the same vein is this dramatic testimony in the UN by Colonel Kemp of the British Army

http://www.unwatch.org/site/c.bdKKISNqEmG/b.5537773/k.73CE/Dramatic_UN_Testimony.htm

It seem that the higher one goes with the wests so called leaders the more ignorant they are as to what is going on around them, and the more likely they they are to roll over to please the screw ball islamists.

"This has to be balanced against the consequences of allowing a rogue state like Iran to acquire nuclear weapons in such an unstable region"

So what! Israel has nuclear weapons given by the US but nobody questions Israel's ability to use these weapons "in such an unstable region". The current Israeli leadership takes no notice of any external pressure on it-eg. the recent UN critique of human rights abuses in the 2008 Palestinian invasion- What is good for the goose is good for the gander!

The Iranian leadership is not stupid. They donot want a war with anybody.

This piece sounds like more Jewish victimhood in a slightly new guise.

Dont you bother following what been going on.Havnt you heard the repeated statements by I'ma dinnerjacket and others, that they want to wipe Israel off the map.

Dont you know about the evil that is Islam.. being a horrible and shameful ideology unfit for a civilised world.

Dont you bother to even recognise the contribution being made by a small number of jews and israelis to human kind vastly outnumbers that being made by Muslims of all varieties. Even little old Australia has scored more Nobels than all the Muslims

The civilised world should be thankful that it has a countrylike Israel on the front line against Islamic backwardness, expansionism and evil.

Unless it has escaped you, it wasnt Israelis who were found guilty of terrorism in the Sydney courts a few weeks ago, but the followers of Islam.

Very biassed and a bit wingey.
As usual you exaggerate the "world is against us" component and completely ignore the sins of Israel.
I grew up in country Victoria and had no idea what a Jew was until my early 20s. A Jewish friend of about 6 years was amazed that I had no idea what Judaism was, and that I had no opinion whatsoever on the Israel issue. Because it was discussed with a couple of Israeli friends present too it was a somewhat confusing explanation!
Remember when a teacher had to break up a fight in the school yard and the cries of "he started it!" are heard? That is exactly what it looks like, childishness and all. (It would be funny except for the blood.)
Right now in the Middle East there is shameful behaviour on both sides.
To blame Iran for doing exactly what Israel did: secretly arm itself to make it immune to US style "regime change" is pretty hypocritical.
Israel calling any country aggressive is stunning hypocricy!

Bren,
you really shouldn't leave yourself open like you have.

I'm having a good old chuckle at your naivety.

'...if the world doesn't prevent a genocidal regime from pursuing its stated intentions, war becomes unavoidable.'

Now really Bren there is only one regime in the mid east attempting to carry out a genocide. It's Israel and they are trying to pretent the Palestinians don't exist and that they don't matter.

The Iranians already have nukes and the ability to deliver them. The yanks know it and won't support any stupid Israeli warmongering.

And mate once the economic catastrophe totally engulfs the US, Israel won't have a financial backer. What's the odds The Israelis will then be screaming for a just peace
