There's more to work than De Botton suggests : Comments

By Malcolm King, published 17/4/2009

Book review: Reading 'The Pleasures and Sorrows of Work' by Alain De Botton is like Chinese food - it leaves you hungry half an hour later.

The probs with De Botty is that he's only ever had one part time job as a doco film maker.

Work is more like a drama and we're all actors - we're also the heros and villians. It's hard to explain to others exactly what night shift work is like or picking fruit in summer. You have to do it to really get a taste of it.
