By Daniel Tynan, published 2/3/2009

President Barack Obama has been conspicuously silent about whether the US will persist with the controversial doctrine of pre-emptive self-defence.

Courageous article, Daniel, and so much needed after years of gutlessness from our so-called global authorities.

Please find below brief on article from Guardian -

From A World of Trouble -by Patrick Tyler

American recklessness and missed chances.

1. Promise of peaceful era when America replaced Britain in Middle East in 1950s.

2. Failed in trying to sort out conflict between Arab states and Israel

3. Not beyond the capacity of a sensible super-power, but all attempts to solve ME conflicts failed, some very miserably.

4. Though Henry Kissinger appeared resolute when he argued against Nixon letting Israel go militarily atomic, he dropped his bundle later.

5. Though disgusted with Cheney and Rumsfeld, Tyler's toughest words are for Presidents, especially George W Bush.

6. Does show some favour for Eisenhower, but slams him for allowing the coup throwing out Mossadeq of Iran.

7. Tyler's catalogue of blame really begins with Lyndon Johnson for letting Israel get away with failing to return coquered territories after the Six-Day War.

But Tyler is hardest of all on Clinton, who seemed too friendly and undecided, finally letting himself be manipulated by Netanyahu of Israel.

Best Regards, BB, Buntine, WA.

“Adherence to the international rule of law” when one has fanatic enemies who are continuously in blatant breach of these laws and are determined to destroy them? What kind of sentimentalism is Daniel Tynan a votary of?

Obama’s conspicuous silence and quibbling about “pre-emptive self-defence,” as his above quote shows, might be the result that he too believes , or at least his closest military advisers, but it’s impolitic for him to admit it, that Bush’s doctrine is the most pragmatic one against the kind of enemy one is encountering.

Themistocles, that is a foolish argument.
Bush's policy has created more enemies than he ever stopped. Can you put yourself in other's shoes?
He *lied* about the WMD's and then killed thousands of innocent civilians in a modern secular city. He deposed the same government that his predecessors setup and funded. If Saddam had any chemical weapons then they were supplied by the US, the worlds largest maker of chemical and biological weapons (despite the treaties they have signed).
Actions like bombing a generic drug factory in Africa (Whoops. we were wrong but we might not have been!) are examples of blatant military actions to support high profit industries. Our media does not report these incidents, but the folks living with them *do* notice! Any wonder that some folks have lost it and decide to fight back?
Notice how nothing has happened since the Neo-con fear campaign ended? There is *no* organised terrorism force in the world except for the CIA, Mossad and the other lawless secret services. The "terrorists" are usually small separate cells who become fed up with the unfairness of their foreign overlords.
To say "they don't play fair" whilst illegally kidnap and torture folks around the world is showing true arrogance.
Folks who *still* think Iraq was justified are delusional and usually have no idea of the history of the region.

More trouble for Obama

Again apologise for making way against our OLO chief's slackness.

Clintonian Recklessness - MK 2

Clinton's again courting Israel after all these years.

Patrick Tyler's "A World of Trouble", though not yet finished, so far says how Bill Clinton when US President let himself be manipulated by Israel's Netanyahu, and now Hillary is foolishly playing the same game right now, as shown today on Sky TV.

Barak Obama sadly will now not only again enter Tyler's "World of Trouble" through having to flirt with the Clinton's, but could mean our cocky nasty little Israel is again dominating the Middle East future.

According to Martin Woolcott, a 'Guardian' journo', there is already a rush to get Tyler's coming book onto Obama's table, a book which will keep insisting that foolish US decisions all along have let Israel not only call the wrong tune in the Middle East, but from our point of view, will easily cause Iran to look east, Russia and even China very likely backing Iran.

Going by the foolish way America let Israel target Syria earlier, as if Israel is part of a US plan to prevent war, there is little doubt that Israel also has loaded nuclear rockets pointed towards Iran.

The above is certainly the most crucial testing time for Obama, and going by the previous tone of the millions who supported him, he'd be better to look to them than to proven international failures like the Clintons.

Cheers, BB, Buntine, WA
