Labor are dug in for a long innings but we will have to wait to discern the true shape of the government elected one year ago.

Howard also left us with very good prosperity, some left wing commentator might want to trot out the line .... China, but unemployment and surplus was happening in 1999 and then 2001, and China only arrived in 2003-2004

This surplus is now being spend unwisely by Rudd ..... $6 billion to US car manufacturers, which might save some union jobs, but the majority of the spending will be funnelled back to the US to pop up their uncompetitive car industry .... ie via them spending less in Australia

And giving local council, money to spend on anything they want is not the best planned policy ..... I worry what our budget in the next few years

Like in NSW, the ALP just cannot be trusted with Money ... Australia like NSW will suffer.

I just re-read the article to see if it actually had anything to say about the Rudd government's achievements in its first year in office compared with what promises it made to the electorate. Apart from a vague statement about it having kept its promises, I discerned not a thing. The rest was a heap of drivel, which seems to be a characteristic of the writings of the left.

Rainier, you couldn't have said a truer word.

Rudd 747 and his merry men & women will really have to lift their game if they expect to be re-elected.

For instance, John Maynard Keynes showed that deficit budgeting was a useful tool to use in managing a depression, but it has to be used in a much more effective fashion than our beleaguered treasurer Wayne Swann seems to be capable of doing. Large handouts to the motor car industry which will ultimately end up in Detroit are not the way to go. We need this money to be spent in Australia, not in some foreign country.
