Industrial policy puts global cooperation at risk : Comments

A protectionist stance for one industry at home only invites pleas from other industries and retaliation abroad.

This article is predicated on the assumption that globalisation will
continue indefinitely. It will not !

It is already coming to an end and as fuel prices resume the rising
trend we saw recently, international trade will fall away.
Shipping costs have dropped dramatically but they must rise or more
ships will be laid up.

Everything will become local including manufacturing.
The current food miles campaign in Europe is just the start.
Trade ministers in governments can no more accept this than their
governments accept the words Peak Oil.
