By Michael Cook, published 19/8/2008

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's life was devoted to promoting truth and human dignity - in a world which valued them less and less.

Mercator is a propaganda outlet for that deeply fascist power and control seeking cult which pretends to be doing "god's work" in the world. The founder of which was an admirer of Hitler and somehow in the twisted schema of the catholic world-view was made a saint by the previous pope.

A fascist saint!

The pope stayed at an Opus Dei retreat centre while he was in Sydney recently! He also railed against the materialism of the times.

A Google search on the topic Opus Dei as Fascist Organisation is all that is needed.

Fascism is the applied politics of sado-masochism dramatised on to the bodies of it victims---the populace at large.

Meanwhile Mercator has direct links to organistions founded on, and that promote the "gospel" of that other great prophet of "freedom", Friedrich Hayek. Namely all of the multivarious right-wing think tanks including the IPA & CIS here in Oz. All of which actively celebrate the world dominant "culture" created by materialistic capitalism, which Solzhenitsyn railed against--the military-industrial-"entertainment" complex.

And that produced the infamous Chicago Boyz who were able to impose, with the copious help of Opus Dei hacks and other right-wing christians their brand of "freedom" on to various countries around the world, beginning with Chile.

The means and results of that campaign are throughly documented in The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein.

Meanwhile mister Cook probably attended the recent babble-fest on "freedom" and "reason" put on by the CIS at the Sydney Opera House.
All of which was again a celebration of the "culture" created by and in the image of capitalist materialism.

Every man for himself and winner take all--the war of all against all or the "culture" of death dramatised all over the planet.

Meanwile this well researched site chronicles the INEVITABLE HORRORS created by worldly power seekers who pretend that they are doing "god's work". Opus Dei has a long and very dark lineage.

HoHum,

And none of what you posted has any relevance to Solzhenitsyn or his message.

If you want to go off on a tangent we could talk about the unsurpassed miseries that took place behind the iron curtain. The worst, most barbarous regimes ever have been communist. Most educated people have realised that communism/socialism is fatally flawed and is not a workable organising principle for modern societies.

Solzhenitysn helped open the eyes of many of those who were taken in by the communist propaganda. Unfortunately there are those who still don't want to hear the truth.

Can someone please review comments before they are published? If entries like those of Ho Hum continue to appear, this forum will soon stop being what it is meant to be... unless you want all of us to turn off our reason before we start reading...

He is obviously mad and doesnt have any respect for "reason".

Who's reason?

Bring on the censors or perhaps increase his medication or put him a strait-jacket along with Marat Sade in the asylum at Charenton.

Lock him up for a while until he comes to his senses and sees the errors of his deviant ideas.

Better still ship him to the gulag or re-"education" camp.

A bullet in the head would be much cheaper.

The good of the one, outweights the good of the many.

This will be interesting to watch.

Everybody likes to talk about and defend "reason", especially those on the "right" side of the culture wars.

But what is it? It is a form of mind created by the objectifying asana of science that began to dominate Western culture during the Renaissance. This objectifying mind is now appealled to as the only legitimate measure of what is True and Real.

Science equals reason, or so the story goes.

All other world-views or epistemologies are "irrational".

Those on the "right" of the culture wars are constantly propagandising against such "irrationalities",including "alternative healing" methods, and all non Western forms of knowledge.

One of the most interesting attempts to chronicle the cultural effects of such reason is Voltaires Bastards The Dictatorship of Reason by John Ralston Saul It is an account of the large scale destructive follies created by some of the most "reasonable" men in the past 100 years.

The same kind of reasonable men that gave us the invasion of Iraq and the Shock Doctrine etc

The same kind of WHITE COATED reasonable men, who are now doing research into more effective ways of killing people. Such research being the primary form of scientific research in the USA and other "advanced" nations.

The same reasonable men who built the ovens and gas chambers in Nazi Germany.

The Humpty Dumpty is also about the limits of reason
Literally crackpot reason.

Humpty sitting on the wall is a metaphor for the always already state of Indivisible Unity which is the ground and Matrix of True Wisdom.

The fragments of Humptys broken shell on the ground are a metaphor for our normal fragmented mind which presumes to be separated from the Cosmic Unity---our dreadful sanity.

Such fragmentary and fragmented 'vision' is the base from which both conventional objectifying science and reason are generated.

No matter how seemingly sophisticated your explanations and reason seems to be, they are always fragmentary.
Such reason is fundamentally incapable of comprehended the whole or the Indivisible Unity. Indeed it strategically works against such a free essentially mindless comprehension from occurring.

Real Intelligence is tacit, silent and wordless.
