Let local Indigenous communities decide who comes and goes : Comments

By Sara Hudson, published 26/2/2008

It's no good reintroducing a permit system that doesn't allow Indigenous people to decide who comes and goes in their community.

Its a great idea, hopefully it will keep out illegal white fisherman and those nasty whitefellas who vandalise our cemetries not to mention white pedophiles and grog merchants making up tp 500 percent mark up on the booze.

Extend the intervention but make sure that the permit system comes back into place.

Yindin ,can the same courtesy apply to WHITE communities too? Or would that be racism? discrimination? unAustralian?
Apartheid is alive and well in Oz, but it is a one way street. And only the Aussie tax payer pays the bill.

Federal Indigenous Affairs Minister Jenny Macklin plans to reinstate the permits system in the Commonwealth's Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) 1976 Act.

The Central Land Council visited myself and my family in our home at
Kintore.

The Central Land Council ordered myself and my family to close our small business and for our family to depart from our "Traditional Homelands" home at Kintore.

The Central Land Council refused to conciliate the dispute in accordance with the ALR(NT).

Since Commonwealth Attorney General Michael Duffy our applications for
legal assistance refused.

When we filed with the NT Supreme Court, the Central Land Council
belatedly acknowledged status of "Traditional Owners" to several members of our family.

However the Central Land Council continue to deny us to deny us our
basic rights both as Australians and/or "Traditional Owners" to have our family live with us - or visit us, in our "Traditional Homelands" home at Kintore.

The Central Land Council claims racial segregation of families to be
lawful under the permit scheme.

The Central Land Council objected to the NT Supreme Court issuing an
interim order our family be able to live together at Kintore whilst the legal issues were being resolved.

Finally Mal Brough started address such problems for communities such as ours at Kintore and for families such as ours for whom these communities are home.

Jenny Macklin the new Minister however is undoing what little improvement in opportunity and security families were expecting to see.

IF we had paid cash bribes demanded things may have been different...

It is easy to see ,on this forum, and others, that the left do not, cannot respond in any other manner but abusive, sneering and nasty put downs.
Do any of you ever get beyond the foul ,shrillness that appears to infest your minds, try debating some time, you may shock yourself into ordinary decency.
