Future cities: what’s creativity got to do with it? : Comments

According to the report 'Perth: Town or City?' creativity seems to be the currency of the age: more important than resources or finance.

The idea of a "creative bureaucracy" is surely an oxymoron?

Yes, the concept of collaborative planning and consultation is surely a more "creative" idea - not just for Perth, but for all Australian cities and towns. However it seems that this is just as much a pipe-dream in our increasingly conservative society as any other.

And as long as Government, corporations and bureaucracies continue to to mis-use it, I shall continue to include the very word "creativity" in quotation marks to underline the irony of its usage in these contexts.
