DNA rip-off is patent folly : Comments

Australia is sitting back while others earn the intellectual property rights to its rich genetic inheritance.

Scientist have mapped the genome of dogs, chickens, nematode worms, platypus etc. etc. and are answering some basic scientific questions. (ie Chickens do not have the gene for teeth, humans do not have the genes for feathers).

The question is why is this research not being done in Australia? Answer, the same reason the level of all research in this country is pitiful.

R&D investment has fallen under our latest govt for every year they have been in office.

At least someone is doing this research, if Australian researchers miss out on funding, so what. Nothing has changed.
