The Howard Government has lacked the courage to truly reform the taxation system.

Well courage is often lacking when there is no opposition.Labor has let us down more so because it has failed to anticipate the new entrenpreneurial working class of sub-contractors who are the source of our efficiency and productivity in the services industry.

The Coalition are not only remiss in not addressing bracket creep, churning etc but also they have made the tax system far more complex and expensive for business. How can business compete internationally when their competitors have no such obstacles?

The resources boom is giving us breathing space to effect real reform. Both Japan and China have proven that in the long term, real wealth exists in your people,so let's invest in both education and a more disciplined society. We can have it all if we don't lose the plot.

Will the waves of MAL content COME and TURN this charging tax BULL around?

The answer is "yes" if the Coalition have the courage not to rest on their laurels and embrace real tax reform for both business and the individual.

TAX REFORM and GLOBAL ECONOMIC TRANSMIGRATION....

One of the saddest features about your country being snaffled up by some other power, (e.g. IrianJaya/West Papua) is that you don't have a lot of choice about how they re-arrange the population/economic mix apart from taking up arms. Transmigration is one key factor in the 'Identity Stripping'..the 'slash and burn' cultural destruction of the indigenous there.

In the same way, our situation in Australia, may be to some degree, subject to the same 'larger than us' forces in the economic sense.

While I would LOVE to see tax reform and other reform to have some real 'teeth', somehow I sense that if we became too creative to the point where it might jeapordize multi-national interests, or annoy global economic powers like George Soros et al, our dollar might be 'caused' to plunge into oblivion to punish us, or some other diabolical 'deployment of defense forces' in the economic sense to bring us back into line with the expectations of our remote economic heads of state.

This is just a gut feeling, so when I hear anything of a really radical nature re tax mix etc, its what comes to mind. When ONE CEO can be paid over $20,000,000 for some good admin and a bit of vision, it boggles the mind to think of how this could be translated into 'influence' of one kind or another. I mean...for crying out loud, this bloke could fund a private ARMY if he wanted to.... maybe even buy the odd older model F-15 or something, or ... make discreet but highly strategic and influential political donations... and thats just one man of many out there.

Most new governments in the Philippines are elected on ONE issue.. "Anti Corruption". (in office they are just as corrupt as the last mob) in Australia, its 'economic issues'.

Labor will just find new ways of taxing us to make up for other economic distractions, the Coalition is reducing us to pawns of global multinationals and private companys.. The Greens and Dems are a joke...and Mararaj Ji err..nope

George Bush got congress to pass a 70 billion dollar tax cut package to the American people to win back the voters.

Peter Costello said that he was in full support to expanding families and included those with three children to get a lousy annual rebate for large families. It is about $240/annual.

It is obvious Pete has look at the National averages in births of 2.5 children per couple.

This goes in hand with the 75 year old gold card for health services where the National average age of death of a male is 72 years old.

Good one Pete.
