Decisions made in ignorance are often based on prejudice and fear. Wendy is quite right to argue for the facts that affect us all to made available, especially having paid for them!

And what about the lack of support from Melbourne University to its Professor of Architecture who commented on the Crown Casino? As I understand it, the right to make public comment on matters architectural was contained in his position description. The same disease of over control of those who can make real contributions to our society by faceless and unaccountable nonentities.

Come on!
The Federal Governmaent restricts information from the CSIRO to protect commercial secret leaks. Especially in the areas of genetic engineering, nanotechnology and photonics. Overall this is poor science as it encourages a gloabal umbrella of secrecy that makes us all the poorer. Unfortunately that is the nature of competion in today's global economy. If you want real prejudice and bloody minded partisanship then this very forum is the guilty party. All threads on this forum in which I posted material that highlighted the folly of adding 1 million people to Sydney's population over the next 20 years, have been summarily deleted. It seems the editors of this foruum have their own vested interest in jiggering 95% of Sydney's population for the benefit of 1-5% of individuals who are government officials or big busness entrepreneurs. This is just another example of government efforts to control any information which is available to the public.
It is a wonder that the reasons for the new restrictions do not mention terrorism and national security. I hope many people will complain to the minister for communications. Posted by Peace, Wednesday, 22 June 2005 8:30:30 PM
