I found this paper interesting but was surprised that there were no references to existing workplace surveys such as Hewitt & Associates which reveal what criteria employees consider important. I also think further consideration is needed of relations between workplace satisfaction and firm performance in the light of firms like Wal-Mart (see latest New York Review of Books)which shamelessly exploit workers and yet grow dramatically.
