Far from benign: the US aid industrial complex : Comments

The attack by President Donald J Trump on USAID as part of his axing crusade against bureaucratic waste is not, for all its structural and constitutional limitations, without harsh merit.

An interesting piece, and not one I’d expect from Binoy given his typical leftish and internationalist slants. He even quotes the conservative Heritage Foundation without his usual sneers. But whatever the broader merits of US aid programs, I suspect that cutting them off completely without warning will do some harm.

I wonder if Morgenthau observation that aid could "perform political function when it operates within political context” would lead Binoy to support axing finding and support for UNRWA? It seems a very clear illustration of the point.
