There is absolutely no reason to drink alcohol apart from self-medication. This fellow refers to the drugging effects as “psychological benefits”. His “conviviality” is another ‘good’ one, particularly when you get bored and irritated by listening to a drunk who doesn't know he or she is drunk. You need to be a teetotaller to know how silly drinkers get, even after a single drink.
There is no safe level of drinking alcohol.
And, although the physical effects of alcohol use seem to be the main concern, little is said about the effects on the brain, and long time drinkers suffering from dementia.
The “benefits” of alcohol-using from studies paid for by the alcohol industry, have been proved to be hogwash every time that stunt has been pulled.
Alcohol is an addictive drug.
