Stop the ‘green hallucinationists’ plan to close all 200 coal power plants : Comments

By Ronald Stein and George Harris, published 11/12/2024

Right now, China already has a total of 1,142 operating coal-fired plants and is building six times as many coal-fired power plants as the rest of the world combined.

China is said to do half the world's manufacturing. In 2026 the European Union is to impose carbon tariffs or CBAM on imported goods so that may have a multibillion dollar effect on trade with China. That's unless the EU creates loopholes which I expect will be the case. If carbon tariffs catch on worldwide it could dampen overall activity.

The writing is on the wall for coal. It is the major cause of the near doubling of atmospheric CO2 in the last century. Major weather events may not have been as frequent or extreme had we not burned coal. Then again it enabled GDP and population to grow massively. We should replace coal with near zero CO2 nuclear but use former coal sites for the cooling ponds, switchyards, power lines and experienced staff. Any country that still uses coal after 2035 should face trade sanctions.

Hmm. Tasweigen, if the amount of co2 doubles, eg from2 parts to 4 or from 3 to 6, that is a pretty small amount compared to the 95% that is
generated naturally and Australia's share is virtually nothing.
