The so-called 'green movement' increases the world's demands for crude oil! : Comments

By Ronald Stein, published 21/11/2024

All the parts and components to make, transport, and install wind turbines, solar panels, and EV's are made from the products and fuels manufactured from crude oil.

Peak Oil concerns circa 2005 never went away but stayed dormant until perhaps now. Barring asteroids or pandemics the loss of oil could be the biggest thing to hit modern humans. Food is said to require 10 units (calories, kilojoules) for every one of final energy content. That's to prepare the soil, fertilise, grow, harvest, process, package and distribute.

That's why I think atmospheric warming is more of an irritant than a crisis. When oil and gas become too expensive the global economy must slow down dragging emissions with it. So not only will new wind turbines not get built or replaced our daily budgets will be consumed by food prices. Recall when protestors against offshore oil drilling flew to corporate AGMs in Europe. Great news it (flying) won't be possible sometime in the future.
