Thank you for emitting: the hypocrisies of COP29 : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 20/11/2024

Azerbaijan, is a petrostate indifferent to the issue of emissions and scornful of ecological preachers. It has seen its natural gas supply grow by 128% between 2000 and 2021.

Converting COP to a video conference might solve two problems; eliminating the flights and not facilitating back room deals. Online media could publish graphs of who is reducing emissions and who is not. That is, international naming and shaming assuming any country feels shame.

If that doesn't work we might have to accept the fact that every last drop of oil, gas and coal that are still economic to extract will get burned. The good/bad news is that they will run out. That could be sooner than we think with some saying global emissions will peak this decade i.e. before 2030.

Good for Azerbaijan. We all should be “indifferent” to the climate scam. Good on their leader for calling out the arrogance of developed countries expecting developing countries, poorer countries, to copy the carbon dioxide fantasy. “Gift from God” or not. Their resources are certainly a gift; like Australia's abundant coal, gas and uranium; the main difference being that Azerbaijan is using theirs, numbnuts Australia is not. Cheapest power in the world to dearest power in the world.

Nutter, Antonio Guterres was at it again: inventing “urgent matters”. See the piece above this one: he and his UN cronies have outlived their usefulness.

“minimal progress, with almost no new national climate change targets”. Of course not. The game is up. The penny has dropped on the climate/net zero/Paris Agreement hoax. And the Trump election bodes well for its complete demise.

“Travelling by private jet is a horrendous waste of the world's scarce remaining carbon budget, with each journey producing more emissions in a few hours than the average person around the world emits in an entire year.”

Do these appalling hypocrites really think everyone else is too stupid to notice their hypocrisy?

Australia needs to get back to the “gifts” of coal and gas and stop contributing more than their fair share of stupidity to talkfests for elitist hypocrites, liars, and confidence tricksters.

Senator Matt Canavan has quipped that, if the COP hypocrisy was power and could be bottled, we could all have free electricity.

Afghanistan, really the Taliban after Biden fled the country leaving $7 billion worth of equipment behind, was invited to the Cop29 party to "observe". Observe only, because the regime is not recognised internationally. Will they eventually be entitled to "climate finance"?

Lovely company Australia keeps! Communist China is bad enough. But terrorists?
