Realities that neither Israel nor the Palestinians can wish away : Comments

By Alon Ben-Meir, published 1/10/2024

After 76 years of conflict laden with mutually disastrous mistakes, miscalculations, and missed opportunities, Israel and the Palestinians have created irrefutable political and factual realities they must now face.

Another thoughtful article from Alon Ben-Meir.

I agree that a two-state solution looks the only way to resolve this conflict in the long term. But the idea that Penny Wong and others seem to be promulgating is that if the rest of the world recognises both Israel and a Palestinian “state”, that will solve the problem. It won’t. Palestine at the moment looks nothing like a “state”, and it will take more than wishful thinking to make it one. Even if something like a state emerges from the ashes of the current conflict, unless Israel and Palestine agree to peacefully coexist, Palestinian statehood could lock in perpetual conflict for more generations to come. Mutual recognition is essential. Without it, we may get two states, but there will be no solution.

The problem is that the cause is religion.
Right from the beginning Mohammad or however was the starter of this
religion, had a hard time trying to convert the Jews.
According to some sources, before Mohammad started Islam and he was a
desert brigand he had battles with Jewish villages.
So the Koran as it later became was biassed against the Jews.
Many verses accuse the Jews of all sorts of nastiness.
So it goes for the last 1400 years.
Such is learnt with their mother's milk.
So Mohammad sent his Islamic army up into Mesopotamia where the Jews
and others lived and they conquered the area as well as Nth Africa
Persia and India.
Since then other armies went through the area such as the Romans.
The Romans also had a lot of trouble with the Jews in Israel.
The upshot is that the two state idea is dead in the water.
Firstly because Islamists believe that land once held by moslems
remains Islamic land forever. As a result land once held by moslems
can never be sold or given up to non-moslems.
Islam believes Israel must be removed and all Jews put to death.
And that is the crux of the problem.
How do we resolve the problem ? Answer, we don't !
It is as simple as that !
In the meantime for our own sanity we need to impoverish Iran.
A few bombs in the Iranian oilfields will do that with little loss of life.
Withe little money available Iranian armies abroad will die on the vine.

The so-called "Palestinians" do not want national independence: that claim is merely a tactical propaganda measure and sadly the author fell for it as well.

That is sad, for if they truly wanted a state of their own then they could have had it many years ago, and I would be warmly supporting it too.
The reality is that they are in essence Syrian and should they have it their way, then the very day after Israel is gone they will re-merge with Syria.

The driving force behind their resistance to Israel has nothing to do with national aspirations and everything to do with the bad treatment they receive from Israel: until the late 1970's (before the massive arrival of Jewish settlers) Israel treated them well and so at the time they were happy and never thought of becoming "Palestinian".

No matter who runs around the globe pushing what sort of agreement the
sad part is it makes no difference, their religion requires that
Israel is deleted as a country and all Jews everywhere are put to death.
After all in the 7th century Islamic armies conquered the whole area
and there is no place for non believers. That includes you.
