Who cares! I always manage to ignore them - and what other people think about them.

Another readable article by BK with a take away line thus:

#Representing a broader coalition of groups, La Revers de la Médaille had released a statement in Libération prior to the gathering mocking official claims that Paris 2024 would leave a society more inclusive in its wake. This could hardly be reconciled with the eviction of some 12,500 vulnerable individuals as part of an effort described as "social cleansing".#

This grim gem is new speak for slum clearing copied straight out of the Indian subcontinent textbook by bulldozer; destroy the evidence of abysmal failure of Social liberalism with its
laissez-faire drug policies and the abandonment of the addicted to the blade of the bulldozer.

Maybe the event would have been better suited to California which could do with a helping hand to clear the longer evidence of failed social experiments.

The well-oiled Australian could've, would've, should've excuse machine has been kick-started already.
It's what put me off watching these games altogether ! The ultra hype even up to moments before an event is such a turn off. Watch the damned show, don't spend all day talking over the real Sports commentators by trying to talk themselves into success prediction.
There are still countries whose athletes are competing for the glory of Sport instead of the other way round !

Costs increased by 115%? That is the only thing that Queensland us likely to exceed. Better to pull out now.

The Sydney Olympics was I think the only one to come out ahead - it was estimated to increase State GDP by 0.2 per cent. But this was offset by 0.2 per cent falls in Queensland and Victoria due to reduced tourism.
