Once again this woman shamelessly cherry picks data to support her dubious arguments.

Firstly, the ABS data she quotes refer only to the 12 months prior to the survey. But the same survey showed that since the age of 15 women were almost 50% more likely than men (23% compared to 16%) to have experienced emotional abuse.

What’s more, the survey Arndt quotes is not the most recent – it dates from 2016, whereas the most recent survey is for the 2022-23 financial year.

The latest survey shows that 23% of women and 14% of men have experienced cohabiting partner emotional abuse since the age of 15. During the year preceding the survey, 3.9% of females and 2.5% of males reported emotional abuse – a large and statistically significant gap.

So the data actually show that women are much more likely to experience emotional abuse by a cohabiting partner than men. The same survey shows an even greater discrepancy for physical and sexual violence – 16.9% of women and 5.5% of men have experienced physical or sexual violence by a cohabiting partner. Also for economic abuse – 16.3% of women but 7.8% of men.

Note there have been some changes in the definitions of abuse between the 2016 and 2022-23 surveys that mean they are not directly comparable.

I think that domestic violence, economic coercion and emotional abuse are far more of a threat to society than “the side you support” – whatever you mean by that.

The reason I dislike this author so much is not because I disagree fiercely with her – though I often do – but because I think she is a charlatan. She has represented herself as a doctor and clinical psychologist but has no such qualifications. She calls herself a social scientist, but repeatedly misuses data and misrepresents sources – as she does in this article – in ways no self-respecting specialist would do. She defends the indefensible – rapists, paedophiles, wife beaters and child murderers.

I think she does this intentionally, knowing her arguments are specious, because she has found a profitable gig as a “men’s issue activist” exploiting the more stupid, gullible and insecure corners of the male victimhood movement. I suspect she has been doing this for a long time, since her early career as a sex therapist.

She is not your champion; she is exploiting you.

The above list of wrongdoing is largely brought on by Leftists interfering in peoples' lives' & leftists are what I mean by that ! idiocy like PC & the grotesque Arts, interfering in the discipling of children etc etc. Denying toddlers to be toddlers by shoving them into indoctrination facilities posing as pre school. Cut back on the numbers of parasitic Leftists would also curb domestic violence substantially. These hypocritical academic "experts" first cause social problems & then use up massive sums in funding for "studies to find solutions" !
We can't stamp out domestic violence altogether because some is human instinct & emotion based. However, we could avoid much of the domestic violence caused by Leftist nonsense psychological experts & bureaucrats meddling in family matters.
School teachers are literally 95% Leftist & look at the damage they're causing ! And, don't get me started on Universities churning out pointless Academics by the thousands only to become a huge burden on decent folk. They vastly outnumber the handful of useful professionals that come out of Uni & they usually distance themselves quite understandably from the insipid rest that is the indoctrinated crowd. See what I mean ?
