Massacre at the ballot: the punishing of the Tories : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 8/7/2024

It was clear that most voters were less keen on Sir Keir Starmer's dour Labour team, supposedly reformed and devoid of dangerous daring, as they were of voting against the Tories.

The Greens and Reform where the only groups to increase their vote. The Vote really was just a vote against the incompetence of the Tories.

What's bemusing is it took 14 years to realise it when it was obvious in 2 that all they were doing was making the wealthy better off and hurting everyone else. Which to be fair is the conservative mantra world wide, so fair play to them for getting away with it for so long.

Voters seem to have an endless tolerance for grift from the right, accepting rhetoric and malfeasance over bettering most peoples lives, for some inexplicable reason.

the punishing of the Tories
I don't quite agree because it looks to be more a case of jumping from the frying pan into the fire !

The author ignores voter suppression of up to 400K mostly young people, wall to wall RW MSM led by Murdoch and strategic voting to ensure the Tories did not prevail.

One also suspects that the author has some affection for and shared links with Nigel Farage, i.e. Assange, Wikileaks and allegedly in offshore media inc. left Mother Jones, Russia?
