After many years of applauding runaway population growth, Premier Miles recently called for a slowdown in immigration numbers under the Labor Albanese Government.

It's highly unlikely that any politician is reading the “stuff” of anyone except that of their ideological mates.

Population? I'm just glad that all the rubbish that is encouraged to come to Australia wants to live in the eastern states, and not where I live.

Dear Ttbn and David (VK3AUU),

Good points - that is one example showing why the Australian states should be independent: the Commonwealth is only a pain and can never represent the wishes of people who live 1000's of kilometres apart.

The smaller the state, the greater the chance that its premier(s) may listen or read their subjects' pleas.
