"The thing about hydrogen ....." is that it can go BANG unexpectedly, and it uses more energy to create than it puts out.

In 2024 Vienna Austria just worked what Perth WA knew in 2004, that hydrogen buses are too expensive to run. Other local hydrogen foibles include the non-repeat of the hydrogen ship Suiso Frontier taking H2 to Japan, the fact that Tallawarra B can't get enough of the fuel to run as intended, the non-event of the Pilbara hydrogen hub, the silence on the hydrogen village near the old Holden plant and the fact that our two primary steel makers are repairing traditional blast furnaces not going the hydrogen route.

The major exception I would make to hydrogen hype is that we may need green hydrogen to make ammonia and associated products like fertiliser. On account of mass starvation otherwise. Hydrogen is probably a non starter for raw vehicle fuel and as a heating gas. Albo must have been inhaling too much of it with his generous hydrogen handouts.

Just another shill puff piece.

Professional Climate Change denial'ers make money for telling lies, to create a legacy for their descendants, that will have to spend it on protecting themselves from scarcity and natural disasters.

Random,

Energy storage is the greatest challenge of renewable energy, and is far from solved. Personally I don't see the point as nuclear power plants operating for several decades generate dispatchable electricity at similar cost to the cheapest non-dispatchable wind and solar generation.

Bullshite.

"Personally I don't see the point" you say?

Well I say, it is totally irrevalent what you think. Becasue that aint science, it's just your opinion. An opinion from someone who has had his mind manipulated by Big Oil. It is they who are promoting the nuclear option because although it will never happen here, distracts the stupid away from renewables.

Go tell your story to anyone who has lived off the grid, or if they have produced way more renewable power they need on their house roof.

That

Hi Random,

The technical challenges and high cost of using hydrogen are well known, which is why it only appeals to scientifically illiterate politicians. The long term low cost of nuclear power is well documented also, so it's understandable that the renewable industry in Australia receiving several billion a year in public subsidies don't want competition. Australians are being conned.
