We know of such programs as the Central Intelligence Agency's 'Project Acoustic Kitty', which ran for five years in the 1960s and cost $20 million without much to show for it.

You ain't seen nothing yet. Now-a-days we have drones that look like harmless dragonflies, house flies, spiders and all manner of creepy crawlers. Equipped with, state of the, miniaturised, art, microphones and lenses.

The only secret that these bugs cannot ferret out are those we retain almost entirely in our heads. Then still not safe, until the world knows, and no longer secret!

Pigeons have been superseded by flying windmills I’m afraid; I think there otherwise known as drones.
