Cannibalism, conservatives and lies: Australia’s Nemesis story : Comments
By Binoy Kampmark, published 6/2/2024Palace coups have become a seasonal tradition in Australian politics. Between 2007 and 2018, Australia had six prime ministers, four of whom were overthrown by their own parties.

I would like to see a “coup” against Albanese right now. He should never have had the job in the first place.

First, an aside. The article quotes Mary McCarthy as saying : "every work she writes is a lie, including 'and' and 'the'."
In fact the quote is "every WORD she writes is a lie, including 'and' and 'the'." (Maybe an editing error?) I take issue with the paragraph on "Stop the Boats", which the article treats as a Nazi-lite policy of cruelty and inhumanity. What the author has forgotten or perhaps never learned was that prior to Abbott's push to "stop the boats" tens of thousands of refugees arrived in Australia seeking asylum and many thousands more were lining up to join them. We now see the folly of allowing unhindered refugee arrivals in the problems besetting Germany, France, England, Ireland and even New York. While Australia has its own problems with unassimilated immigrants (http://www.9news.com.au/national/vyleen-white-five-teens-charged-over-fatal-stabbing-of-queensland-grandmother/e44b277a-85ba-48b2-94a7-21e37f692509 ), those problems are orders of magnitude less than those seen in other western nations, precisely because of the Abbott policy. That we see decrying the policy while ignoring its benefits is one of the reasons why we see such uproar in our politics. We see it also in the hand-wringing over the so-called cost of living crisis where the problems are treated as something that just happened while the entire political establishment AND the electorate run away from the fact that it was all caused by the lockdown hysteria and the associated indiscriminate spending. I find it inexplicable, that the Liberals would cooperate with the ABC, to make this series. As it is, Albanese Labor is having a field day, with their fake narrative of "fixing a broken system" left by Dutton.
Also, I await Nemesis II, the truth on Rudd-Gillard-Rudd. It will be a long wait - the established or "woke" Labor narrative is Rudd bad, Gillard good. Posted by Steve S, Tuesday, 6 February 2024 10:29:17 AM

History is a foreign land none can return to! Yes, it goes without saying, every political party has a fair share of those who want to lead. And most politicians twist and bend the truth, tell pork pies to further their personal ambitions/avoid accountability.
