Israel-Jordan relations in the wake of the Gaza war : Comments

By Alon Ben-Meir, published 1/12/2023

Under Prime Minister Netanyahu's leadership, Israel-Jordan relations have hit a new low. Sadly, after 30 years of peace, there is deep sullenness and disappointment between the two countries.

Understandable, but violence only begets more violence and youth adopting Hamas ideology will only lead to more bloodshed and destruction!

If other nations invite themselves in, Israel may use a nuclear weapon or two? Israel has a right to defend itself and will do so with extreme prejudice!

Arab nations need to remind themselves that Hamas brought this war to the table and has vowed to repeat time and again similar atrocities again and again!

If Jordan and other nation want to face nuclear destruction? All they need do is take up the cudgels on behalf of Hamas. Which may also bring the US into the conflict!?

I agree with the article, with just a couple of minor corrections:

First:

"The death of more than 14,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including nearly 6,000 children and 4,000 women"

should read:

"The ALLEGED death of more than 14,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including nearly 6,000 children and 4,000 women"

Most of these "children" are Hamas fighters under the age of 18. The 14,000 figure is also strange because around 30,000 Hamas fighters alone were killed in this war so far.

Second:

"the approximately 300-mile-long border with Israel"

Why not the approximately 480-kilometer-long border? Neither Jordan, nor Israel, nor Australia use that archaic non-metric system!

And they'll all be civilian casualties. Even Hamas fighters hiding behind human shields.

In Vietnam kids Armed with a Kalashnikov, as young as nine or ten, were often more dangerous than adults. I suspect that's also the case in Gaza.

Moreover, the tunnels serve as conduit for weapon and ammunition supplies. Supplied by or through allegedly neutral M.E. Nations.
