The telling quote from Kenny's link:
"No statistically valid, long term, peer-reviewed study in this field has ever been attempted that might give some indication of the therapy's safety and effectiveness. Dr. Spitzer's study was peer-reviewed and published. However, it was confined to a small number of carefully selected subjects who were interviewed by telephone." If homosexuality is a purely mental state: sit down for 2 minutes and pretend you are attracted to members of the same sex. When you have failed dismally at this, I suggest you re think the essence of human sexuality.

If u want to be informed, get the facts right
86% of the men and 63% of the female subjects emerged from therapy still having feelings of attraction to persons of the same-sex. That is, after therapy they are bisexuals, not heterosexuals. In later interviews, Dr. Spitzer said: "...the kinds of changes my subjects reported are highly unlikely to be available to the vast majority [of gays and lesbians]... "[only] a small minority -- perhaps 3% -- might have a "malleable" sexual orientation." He expressed a concern that his study results were being "twisted by the Christian right. my son is not attracted to women. About 12 or 13 he began searching the internet for help saying he was not attracted to women. He had to discuss this with me since he couldn't drive and I drove him to couseling etc. The unfortunate part is nothing seems to work.
All his friends are "straight", he doesn't drink, smoke, or have any bad health habits whatsoever. He has not been with anyone sexually as I found out from an assesment I managed to obtain. I even took him to Florida to a physchological group but he said it didn't help. He went to "Narth" foundation which is supposed to help but didn't. Any suggestions? He is almost 22 now. Good to see an article that challenges the notions that were promoted/cultivated of recent years - particularly during the gay Keating/Blewett era.
I can personally attest to the FACT that homosexuality is a mind orientation long before the physical side comes into play having lived at close range with these persons. Many/most use it as a cloak for their inner inadequacies.
