By Binoy Kampmark, published 13/9/2023

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi really wanted to make an impression for his guests and dignitaries.

India is a sovereign nation and Modi is it elected head of state. Our example is all we have along with diplomacy and cricket to affect outcomes. All else is pissing into the wind. Besides there are trade implications to consider.

Just like China threw people out of the homes and into tents prior to their Olympics.

The Modi autocracy is a bit too like China for comfort. The Hindus are not too keen on Christians or Muslims either. Yet, Albanese sucks up to Modi, and fills Australia with Indian immigrants, who are understandably anxious to escape the poverty and filth, but who completely not-understandably mobbed Modi with adulation when he visited Australia.

What TTBN said. Albanese has signed appallingly one-sided agreements with Modi India, giving carte blanche to sub par Indian qualifications and Indian students. Albanese didn't care that India is consistently rated one of the worst places in the world for women, in the WEF Gender Gap Report.

Instead of rising up in arms, our "intelligentsia" have all clapped and cheered. Especially woke Universities Australia and woke ACTU - the two organisations that should have sounded the alarm the loudest.

PM Modi is more Traditionalist perhaps than other Indian rulers and so I see this as a positive step. Perhaps the reason why Binoy Kampmark seems to be against him- is because he supports the other end of the political scale- the issue with poverty in India didn't start with Modi. But we shouldn't be bringing more Indian's to Australia in my view. And Albanese's extremely concerning agreement with India appear to be a function of not having a multi-generational connection and loyalty with Australia and Britain. India needs to take responsibility for their own population- not outsource it. Hopefully India can use their talent to improve the conditions in India- maybe work on some of the issues of cultural self determination

Kudos Steve S- yes the Australian Education Industry and Intelligensia Academics are likely to get a pay rise from the Albanese- India agreement. Academics are not going to avoid betraying Australia by betraying their own earnings- "Disgusting Academics". Universities reason for existence seems to be to benefit the local population in competition against the world but appears to have become corrupted. In the past large taxes were paid to Universities to facilitate these aims- they occupy preferential lands in the centre of our cities- but seeing themselves as superior "Academics" believe they deserve more.
