Senator Pocock’s Duty of Care Bill; Requiring the Commonwealth Government to consider the impact of climate change on present and future generations : Comments

By Gwynn MacCarrick, published 11/8/2023

The Bill is in line with efforts around the world, to re-negotiate the social license of the fossil fuel industry to operate and phase out the approval of new projects.

How stupid can people get with this climate nonsense. Whatever the climate does, humans have no say in it. All these busybodies are doing is causing hardship for everyone who is not rich enough to pay for power price increases, loss of jobs to China, and restrictions on their freedoms.

"climate change impacts". An 'impact' is something that happens when you get hit by a bus. More manipulation of language here to make a natural thing like climate change seem dramatic and scary. A load of tosh, in other words.

The 'independent' Senator, who is certainly independent of common-sense and reality, is just another example of how really stupid people can be elected to the Senate.

39 dead in bushfires in Hawaii of all places continues from those which recently engulfed parts of Europe with such ferocity, and yet the slack jawed, glazed eyed, weak willed, and wilfully ignorant continue with their petty denialism.

Senator Pocock is the type of person who makes one realise that politicians can be the best of us. Every strength to his arm.

"Whatever the climate does, humans have no say in it."
This may well be correct as the Earth is a dynamic system and undergoes change continually.
However we do not do ourselves any favours by consuming fossil fuels and continually polluting our ONLY atmosphere.
We maybe not be changing the climate but we are exacerbating its affects.
SteeleR is quite correct.

Who is 'denying' that there are bushfires in Hawaii and all the rest of the rant? But, as I have said this week, I don't argue with stupid people who emerge from their caves to pathetically cancel the opinions of others because their own opinions don't hold water.

He is but one man and however well intentioned, his bill will be a paper tiger the fossil fuel industry and its servant the labor party/head buriers will ignore or bypass.

As it is clear they have no intention to transition to anything else as base load power, anytime soon! Their still singular focus is retaining power and who they must appease (the gormless greens) to achieve that outcome.

The national best outcome and climate change won't be addressed by continuing to power the economy with prohibitively expensive coal, or even more prohibitively expensive battery backed renewables.

It is as clear as the nose on your face, the only real option to address climate change without tanking the economy, is (carbon free) nuclear power.

And that nuclear power needs to be homegrown MSR thorium which we own, control and independently operate! No two ways about that!

Ttbn, if the absolutely irrefutable climate change evidence, challenges your moribund moronic calcified brain's apathetic belief system, then junk the evidence, why dontcha! Head burier!
