The United Nations multilateral summits bring together leaders from 193 countries to discuss and address global challenges and opportunities.

Another useless and dangerous event, just like the United Nations itself.

Another expensive talk feast that achieves little.

We need to rethink our position in this world and become much more self-sufficient and independent. With a newly minted and robust manufacturing economy.

To that end we need to transition, ASAP to nuclear energy and build a very fast train as first cab off the rank.

If the UN was functioning as envisaged there'd be blue helmet's all over the Ukraine. And turkey would cease blocking Sweden's entry into NATO.

Hang on to your shirts folks. The robber barons are about to try to come up with some new methods of ripping them off your backs.

I wonder if these leaders realise just what an inviting target they will make, all gathered in one spot, & that being a UN spot.

What does this article actually say? It seems to me a vague assembly of bureaucratic platitudes and jargon that says nothing about the concrete issues involved or how this talkfest might resolve them. To be fair, it is about planning for an event, and the more concrete proposals will (one hopes) emerge from the meeting itself. But that means this is about process and objectives, not substance. Does anyone care about those except participants? Or are we supposed the be excited that “Namibia and Germany have already circulated a Concept Note for Informal Consultations on the Scope and Elements of the Summit of the Future”?

Excellent article that Dr. Voicu shared regarding next year's Summit of the Future. The Summit comes at the best time to assess progress toward the 2030 goals. Interestingly, these initiative are very much consequential to policy as well as to business. Businesses have, for example, taken to heart the UN SDGs, heeding the UN calls to action to alleviate poverty; scholars, as well, continue to be unwavering in their examination of responsible business in all its facets, investigating poverty and poverty alleviation mechanisms from different perspectives, including corporate, social, and governmental involvement, private-public partnerships, base- or bottom-of-the-pyramid (BoP) initiatives, sustainable development strategies, social enterprises, microfinancing, and social and micro-entrepreneurship, among others. The UN Summit of the Future provides yet another venue to gauge progress.
