Demographic winter: has the 'population bomb' now imploded? : Comments

By Keith Suter, published 3/4/2023

The Ehrlich book was controversial because it blamed the looming environmental crisis on population growth (especially in the developing world) - rather than the developed world's consumption of raw materials.

The world is already terribly overpopulated. We should be imprisoning breeders, not rewarding them with tax breaks and puff pieces in the media.

While the world population growth is said to be slowing, it is also said that the populations of s..thole countries is not. As Western countries lose people and, in Australia at least, the diminishing population doesn't want to work, we will bring in people from these awful places until we are just like them ourselves.

Great outlook. The end of Western civilisation is under way.

Everything strives to achieve its state of lowest free energy.
And so it will be with homo sapiens when we are all either dead or all the same as ttbn states.
Second Law of Thermodynamics I believe.

We need a pause on migration and a workable plan to house those folk already here! Population will increase organically from within when having a larger family is once again an affordable option.

It's doable but not with current energy, manufacturing, transport and tax policies or policy direction! way too much blah, blah, bloody blah, blah and not enough grunt, strain, heave.

Don't just do something, stand there!

Ayame Tan,
Can't feed, don't breed ! Those who are unable to support a large family simply should not have a large family. People in that predicament should be helped with free contraception either via an operation or medication.
If we can afford to give those with massive profits Tax breaks & fork out billions for those who chose to go through life without making an effort then we can afford to help those who don't want many children because they can't afford them.

Making babies is a Ponzi scheme.

We stuffed it in the past, now we look for a temporary fix by recruiting more young souls to feed and care for us when we are old, who will in turn grow old themselves and require even more young souls... who cares, we won't be around by then, so we think, until we realise that we have been cheating ourselves all along because it is us who will have to come back among these new young souls!
