It is not apparent that the UN itself has any "respect for sovereignty ..." of member countries.

The UN is impotent and incompetent, and as long as totalitarian countries like China, Russia and a few other tinpot dictatorships are members, Australia should not have a bar of it.

Agree, recognized sovereignty, cooperation and diplomacy is all that prevents another Ukraine. That and little else!

Something to think about as a nuclear-powered Russian sub that can achieve speeds as high as 60 knots test the poisiden nuclear torpedo that can hit preselected targets thousands of kilometres away and anti-ship cruise missiles, with a range of 300 kilometres, in Artic waters.

And takes the world closer to a nuclear Armageddon than we've ever been!

During these dire times of attacks, provocations, and endless mutiny, the United Nations brings some hope of dialogue, a way to keep Russia engaged with the world community. Where would the world community be today without the United Nations? Importantly, the ASEAN Regional Forum espouses the principles of the UN Charter – mutual respect, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and equal rights of nations, –flagrantly violated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. All efforts must be made to reduce tensions and mitigate conflicts to ensure world peace. ASEAN’s leadership in this regard is to be applauded. Thank you, Professor Voicu, for sharing your valuable insights into the ASEAN continued initiative to promote world peace and mutual understanding.
