A man's life can be destroyed by a false rape accusation while his accuser remains anonymous and unpunished.

So what has promoted this leader of the “Bitch” brigade, to touch down on the landing field of male rendering?

Here I say again, women ( in this case), are the cause of the problem, and will definitely not be the solution to it!

Allowing false accusers to get away with ruining someone's life just brings community contempt and mistrust down on not only the liars, but also the women who might be genuine.

Under current legislation people who claim they
have been the victims of sexual offences automatically
receive anonymity, but suspects do not. The law should be
changed because allegations of a sexual nature carries
stigma. It has to be anonymity for all or anonymity for
none. People accused of sex crimes should have their
identities protected until they are convicted.

The case of actor John Jarratt is an example of a man
being stigmatized by the current legislation. The
accusation cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars
in earnings and much more in grief. At least he managed
to appear on Sixty Minutes, sue the media, write a book,
and save some of his reputation.

The law should be reformed and broadened to include people
who are accused of beating and abusing children and
murdering children.

Agree, Foxy

There was a case in our community some years ago of a man who was accused of sexual assault. His name was dragged through the media, his reputation ruined, and in the end, the young man who accused him recanted his testimony before the case could come to trial.

Thank you.

Much has been written on this subject.
However we need to keep putting pressure
on our MPs to reform outmoded laws.

I almost always disagree with Bettina Arndt’s apologias for the male victimhood movement, but in this case I think she’s right. The stigma and permanent reputational damage arising from false claims of rape and sexual assault can cause serious and lasting damage. Careers and reputations have been ruined.

An even greater injustice, though, is that in the vast majority of cases, reports of rape and sexual assault do not result in convictions. It is a horrible thing to be accused of rape if you are innocent. It is even more horrible to have been raped, and reported it to police, only to see the perpetrator go free.
