Yes and more heat waves that were formerly unknown! Only those who bury their heads somewhere warm and comfortable will deny that this ongoing phenomena is not climate change, fueled by fossil fuels!

We have waited long enough and need to transition to carbon free energy yesterday! And without tanking the economy and modernity, all of which are threatened by the green preferred renewables and required back ups! Only the willfully blind cannot see so, i.e., labor!

The only carbon free energy that won't tank the economy or drive us back to an agrarian economy is nuclear energy, namely MSR thorium!

Apart from that, we need massive desal plants (deionization dialysis desalination) all over the planet and power cheap enough to make that cost effective for broad scale irrigation/crop production.

Sitting on hands or fiddling as Rome burns won't cut it or save anything! The time for real action was yesterday!

Don't just do something, stand there.

This is a problem of the 1.5 billion of the world's population who are affluent enough to be big energy users (of course that includes us).

To stop this 'slow motion train wreck' of global heating we will all have cut our carbon footprints by many tonnes of CO2. This will mean we have to stop driving large cars without passengers, stop eating red meat, stop flying when we feel like it and stop heating and cooling every room our huge homes.

To do this society must become aware and concerned enough to give up some of our sacred liberal rights. It can be done; it has been done with cigarettes, seat belts etc. I've already cut my emissions from the average 12 down to 4 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The sustainable level to halt the increase in atmospheric CO2 is less than 2t. This will entail switching entirely to renewable electricity, which also can be done; >80% RE by 2030 is the official target in this country.

Yes, my Ford focus lost at the shopping car parks with so many 'guzzlers'. Locals reluctant to use our very reliable bus service and just too many people on the planet. Glad it's being seriously discussed now and seeing the European images.

European drought. Must be caused by global warming and that evil CO2. All man's fault. No other possible explanation. Natural forces would never create such a drought.

If this is the worst in 500 years , what ,then , was the cause of that 500 year old drought ?

Global warming , Climate Change or just cycles of the World's climate .

You choose !

So there seems to be a global inversion of rainfall compared to usual:

1. the NORTHERN HEMISPHERE is getting far less rain then usual. Including China, which is in major drought as well http://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/aug/22/china-drought-causes-yangtze-river-to-dry-up-sparking-shortage-of-hydropower
causing food and hydropower shortages, while contributing to lower economic growth.

while

2. the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE seems to be getting much more rain than usual including:

- here in Aus

- Southern Africa http://reliefweb.int/disaster/fl-2022-000201-zaf

and

- southern South America http://floodlist.com/america/argentina-chile-mudslide-floods-june-2022
