Stumbling surveillance: the end of the COVIDSafe app : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 16/8/2022

Australia's COVIDSafe App only identified two positive cases of infection during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, and failed, in every sense of the term, to work.

So we can by this evidence of waste, expect better from the new breed of pigs gathered around the trough? Is that another Ho Ho?

The app was an intrusive surveillance weapon, part of the authoritarian rule, where Australia recorded 472 deaths per million and New Zealand recorded 478 deaths per million. Both nations were outperformed by Japan, which had no lockdown and recorded only 268 deaths per million. Per capita deaths were also lower in Taiwan, 386 per million, even though they were right next door to the source and also had no lockdown.

Jobs were lost, businesses destroyed, children not educated, reasons for actions hidden, and the nation landed with a massive inflationary debt which has already become far more expensive to service.

Much of this was done under regulations and other delegated legislation made by a conflicted minister or even a bureaucrat, without any of the checks and balances considered normal even in colonial times.

Yet, there will be no Royal Commission, nobody will be held to account.

Ain't 20-20 hindsight a wonderful thing!? Yes, Binroy, you should be worried about the lifting of your data and what that might indeed reveal? But for most other Ozzies the top of mid issues remain the crippling cost of energy, housing and food prices that are scandalous and the fact we're saddled with a government that could address these issues, but for the idiotic idealogical imperatives (political straight jacket) that they've imposed on themselves!

I mean, seriously, thorium is less radioactive than a banana! And thorium in an MSR is safer, cleaner and cheaper than coal was before Russia invaded Ukraine!

Better we should be saddled with the world's highest energy prices going forward (renewables batteries and pumped hydro) and all manufacturing and most prossessing sent offshore than to install off the shelf, bug free, MSR thorium here and with that installation, install power prices as low as 1 cent PKWH.

And ensure we make stuff here again and do all our own prossessing! That may not suit our Chinese masters, but who give a flying french francfurt what they do and don't like.

Labor just doesn't have the balls to say no sir, thank you sir and we'll please ourselves how much we remain dependent on Chinese manufacture and (cherry picked) trade!

ttbn, both Taiwan's and Japan's populations, traditionally wear masks when infected with any cold and flu virus. Masks alone reduced the spread of infection by as much as 80%! And there their populations far more compliant with health orders than the (don't tell me what to do)
don't give a rats, antivax, morons down under.

The new and more contagious and virulent mutant strains are breed in the unvaccinated, I don't give a rats, cohort. We only got rid of polio and smallpox when it was mandated all had to be vaccinated! Ration cards helped as did a more compliant population before we took all those post war migrants from Europe!

If the current infection curve continues, covid will take more lives by Christmas than any other cause of death including, cardiac arrest!
