By David Singer, published 9/8/2022

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid’s meeting with King Abdullah on 27 July could see negotiations being announced shortly between Israel and Jordan to create a single territorial entity.

World war one. That was last century wasn't it? And also what was decided/imposed by Britain, then, also negotiable!

If there are to be negotiations!? Then Israel must abandon the occupied territories and stop the war crimes of annexing much of the same! And the starting point!

Here comes the regular weekly attack on Israel and Jordan...

"His Majesty King Abdullah II meets Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid; reaffirms need to create political horizon to achieve just, comprehensive, lasting peace on basis of two-state solution and bolster regional security, stability, and development, which must include Palestinians"

Oh no, they must have been talking about me... they must have been criticising my hair-style... what else is there to talk about?

Everyone knows what "two-state solution" means in this context, it has been discussed over and over for decades and nobody thinks that it includes Austria or Venezuela, so why Jordan?

"finally ending the conflict over the division of former Palestine between Arabs and Jews begun with the defeat of Turkey in World War 1."

What Jews?

That was when the Southern Syrians (who much later called themselves "Palestinians" for tactical reasons) became extremely upset about their forced separation from their Northern Syria brethren by the Sykes–Picot Agreement. Their anger was towards the British and French, not the yet-insignificant Jews!

"Jordanians and Palestinians are Sunni Arabs from the same region and integrating them will not cause any ethnic or sectarian fault lines in the long run."

Jordanians, at least their established classes, are proud and cultured Bedouins, not Syrians!

"2. The right of return to Israel by Palestinian Arab refugees will not be pursued. Instead The Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine will integrate those refugees within its borders"

Any Jordanian would rather swallow a COVID-filled sponge than accommodate these angry, frustrated and viper-like hostile mob of refugees.

"4. The retention by Israel of the Jordan Valley and other areas of the West Bank will be resolved in the negotiations"

The Jordan valley is the most fertile area within both the West Bank and Jordan itself. If Jordan ever had any incentive to acquire lands west of the Jordan river due to its food shortages, then that's gone too!

"Any agreement will need to be ratified by a free popular referendum by all Jordanians"

Great, sigh, that on its own would be sufficient to assure that this madness will never happen!

Your starting point is not what the Saudi plan proposes. You are a waste of space.

It appears that you have not even read the Saudi Plan. Am I right?

The Saudi proposal makes everything you have wasted your time on railing against week after week look so dumb and stupid doesn't it?
Try and calm down, let the negotiations between Israel and Jordan to implement the Saudi plan hopefully get a start on soon - and see what happens.

For once - try to stop blowing your own trumpet and understand the significance of the plan the Saudis have come up with that could finally end the 100 years of conflict between Arabs and Jews.

Dear David,

For once - try to stop blowing your own trumpet!

Any part of the West Bank or Gaza that is annexed by Jordan (along with its native population, assuming you do not plan to empty that land by killing them first) spells the end of Jordan and a grave threat to Israel.

But why would you care?

It was already made clear that your interest in all this is, and always been, to end what you describe as "the 100 years of conflict between Arabs and Jews".

Nevermind I time and again disputed your presumption about the existence of such a conflict, nevermind you were never able to show that such a conflict actually exists, let us suppose just for a moment that it does - you never explained to us WHY you want that "conflict" to end, moreover, how come ending that "conflict" is so important to you that you are willing to sacrifice both Israel and Jordan in the process.

Explicitly, suppose your [and the Saudi] plan goes ahead, ending the "Arab/Jewish conflict", but with the "small side-effect" that my family along with the other citizens of Israel (about 6.8 millions of them Jewish) is kicked out and drowns in the Mediterranean sea. Do you expect me to be jolly happy about it just as you are?

Can you still call yourself a Jewish lover?
Your unexplained reason(s) for ending this "conflict" become more mysterious than ever - or is what drives you just plain old Anti-Semitism?

Tut,tut...

Have you even read the 2022 Saudi Peace Plan? From the ignorance displayed in your comment I would say not.

When you have read it - I will be more than happy to answer your objections to any of its proposals.
