Whilst I mostly agree with your views, on this one I don't. When it comes to the mentality of thousands of years of culture & politics, you really need to switch of your Australian concept which has its foundation on Irish thinking but has long since gone awry !
The Chinese are way, way ahead of the thinking here hence they have most Australians feeding out of their hands. Most Australians just aren't aware of it at this stage.
You see, when people only have money to focus on they fail to concentrate & see other factors.

The elites in the USA be it Republicans or the Democrats are agents for the military industrial complex which has disproportionate influence on US and world policies and politics. Nancy Pelosi's salary at the US Congress is $210K per year but her net worth in 2022 is US$135m. She is heavily invested in various stocks which profit from generating wars for profit and constant expansions of military budgets. She and the military industrial complex don't care for self determination, self-government, democracy, freedom, human dignity and human rights unless they provide the excuse for war profiteering and murder of innocent people.
