Wartime history reduced to dust : Comments

By John Mikkelsen, published 22/4/2022

A structure in the north Queensland bush which played an integral part in the Pacific victory 77 years ago was reduced to rubble in the name of progress back in 1957.

Give up before you start John: Most Australians I know still see Queensland overshadowed by Joe and Flo riding in a horse drawn cart made of pumpkin scones.

Oh, so your from Queensland are you, wink wink nudge nudge.

Maybe redirect your efforts towards a Noosa Heads New State movement!

A lot of history has been reduced to dust in the name of alleged progress! And like our train and tram lines, irretrevibly so! Not so much for progress? But to advantage big transport operators with deep pockets? And as shortsighted as they come.

Wartime is now a reality that could soon involve us before we're prepared! With most of our previous wartime manufacturing also dismantled. And for the most base political reasons!

Manufacturing flourished when we the people owned and operated our own power stations. And energy still cost less than wages! This needs to be reversed even if it hurts some indolent government bottom lines or those of tax avoiding, price gouging, profit repatriating foreign investors!? Whose vicelike grip on coal-fired power cannot be loosened?

And means we need instead to transition to nuclear power as MSR thorium, owned and operated by installed Australian co-ops with a charter that makes them so for eternal generations! So as, no government can dismantle them in the name of falsely acclaimed progress.

We also need nuclear tipped missiles as a deterrent against invasion by a hostile entity that has us in their crosshairs. And we need to be able to deploy our available defense force along our entire eastern seaboard.

And means we need to crack on with rapid rail without delay or endless political prevarication!

The simulated atomic explosion at what is now called Kunini-Payamu has been well documented.
The air-strip built by the U.S. airforce is still operational. It is still possible to stumble across some of other long abandoned infrastructure such as roads and culverts.

Thanks for the story John Mikkelsen. There are a few interesting bunker like structures around- but few with as interesting history as this one.
