By Jeffrey Wall, published 18/2/2022

The escalation in China's influence in Papua New Guinea is no longer a matter of speculation – the available evidence just proves it.

"The question readers may wel (sic) be asking is why China has decided to give its priority to PNG".

That's not my question. My question is how Jeffery Wall sees PNG's "growing dependence on China" as a threat to Australia" that we can do nothing about, as he says.

90,000 Chinese tourists? So what? Australia hosts Chinese tourists. China wants to buy raw materials from PNG? So what? China buys raw materials from Australia. PNG owes China a lot of money. So what? China might take over bits of PNG in lieu of repayment. So what? China has a 99 year lease on our Port of Darwin; China owns huge swathes of our agricultural land, and a lot of our business operations and residential real estate. Who the hell are we to tell PNG what it should be doing?

ttbn,
Not quite as simple as that ! But I find it amusing how people like Jeffrey Wall who were the ones with the finger on the pulse so to speak all of a sudden profess to have the answers to many of the problems their advice helped to create.

You would think with his PNG experience and claimed knowledge, the government would be interested in employing him. Perhaps spruiking is just a hobby for him - one without any responsibilities.

There is no need to worry about PNG being in debt to China.
China does not expect to get the debts repaid anyway.
China will extend the loans, give debt holidays and just keep them
poor and supply servants for Chinese managers of the Chinese businesses.
It is working well in Africa.
That is what Victoria escaped thanks to the government.

It is the price of putting a vassal state in its place.
No countries are sovereign and all will be vassal states.

That is the meaning of what the US Sect of State said recently.

And!? What can we do? our influence limited by our capacity to pay/our economy! We cannot stop PNG from borrowing money from whoever she pleases! And given the threat of a belligerent China that close to Oz, we need to ensure we are strong enough militarily to make the price too high for the CCP!

That means we need to transition to a nuclear powered economy and develop other weapons that have the capacity to harm China's economy. I'm thinking something new that they can't see or detect and able to affect all electronics from a space orbit.

Something that uses solid state circuity as the propulsion source that when aimed at a ground facility or elsewhere. Stuffs their electronic hardwhare, with a focused narrow beam magnetic pulse. A beam that penitrates hundreds of metres of water, or 30-40 metres of soil or concrete. Stuffs electronic guidence of their missiles etc.

The domino theory is no longer just theory, but fact. And it's rolling toward us as China buys strategic locations, power and influence with cheque book diplomacy and has us all but surrounded! Our response? To thump tables and bellow, how dare they and try and tie the other side of politics to the outcome!?
