Are we about to hear about dominoes again as, as we did prior to the Vietnam debacle? They didn't fall after the hiding we got there, but now that China could easily see Biden’s US as one of more dominoes to come, we had better look sharp. Australia could be another country no longer able to rely on America since the Left took over.

Just a reminder. Australia doesn't even recognise Taiwan as a sovereign state. How seriously would the CCP take anything we say on the subject seriously? And, because of the lack of recognition, why would get into contretemps with them over it?

Yup! Completely agree! And we and all the other democracies need to be in it for the long haul with all their human, financial resources and implacable resolve!. And should mean we sign ironclad defence treaties with the aforementioned, India and Indonesia!

Of course it's probably everyone's interest to sponsor stability in Asia but the question is "what can we do? And is it truly in our interest?". The analogy with the Warring States Period is interesting and provides some insight into how China and others may see the conflict. Australia is on the edge of Asia- to what extent is it valid for Australia to interfere in Asia. There is a history of relations between Taiwan, Japan and the West- China too for that matter. Sun Tzu said war burns itself out. Water flows till it meets a barrier. China needs to be divided into smaller states- the question is how. Perhaps those that misuse power need to be demoted.
