Providing real leadership in the fight against PRC coercion : Comments

By Jeffrey Wall, published 14/6/2021

The Prime Minister was on message when he committed Australia to fighting economic and other coercion in our region. But the time has come to match the rhetoric with real and substantial action.

What would you have us do, Jeffery? That we haven't done for what seems a corrupt cargo cult playing both ends against the middle?

I think we need to stop pandering to these ingrates and just crack on with self-reliant independence here at home! And need to ditch the non-nuclear stance in favour of a real-world pragmatism and a nuclear powered nuclear-armed economy!

If we get it and our economic recovery and robust economic growth happening here? Then we can do more for neighbours than mere and unaffordable tokenism!

As for China, if we cannot match them and w can't currently! Then we need to vacate the field!

On the mark AlanB.

And I’d add, with any chance of the US as a counter to Chinese influence now utterly subdued by the choice of a Democrat government headed by an escapee from the dementia ward of a nursing home, our fate is sealed, and the Chinese influence is set to continue to increase in the region unabated.

Yep, with us chucking away our natural advantage of cheap power fired by the best coal in the world, we are a sitting duck unless we embrace nuclear power & arms.

A country that once punched way above it's small stature, we are now a paper tiger, soon to have our own lights as reliable as PNGs if we are lucky.
