It's looking a touch quixotic, but the News Media Bargaining Code has become Australia's weapon of choice in attempting to redistribute proceeds from big tech into the coffers of a withering fourth estate.

Have no sympathy for the Murdoch media! And opinion/fake news, replacing factual reporting?

That said, some of the smaller players seem to be reaching satisfactory for them, agreements? And a far cheaper for the Giants in a massive order of magnitude than to be tied to an unavoidable (phew, we dodged that bullet) 15% flat tax!

Well, it seems Facebook have pulled the plug on allowing Australian news content on their services.

So not only do the Australian content providers not get the rivers of gold that they were hoping to extract but they also lose the 50+ billion referrals to their pages that Facebook provides both here and overseas.

Lose/lose.
