Someone accused of embezzlement is hardly a "political prisoner". He is an alleged criminal. Describing a Palestinian in Israel as an "aid worker" is pretty imaginative, too.

Israel has to be tough to survive, constantly threatened Palestinians and other lunatics as it is.

Yes, Israel behaves immorally in this case because its described actions are not for its own protection, but rather for the preservation of its 1967 occupation.

However, administrative detention (which the author opposes) is the only legitimate reason to incarcerate people. People may be locked up because and for as long as they pose a serious danger to society - throwing people in prison who are no longer likely to cause harm, is totally wrong and disgusting.

Dear Alan,

I clearly do not support Israel's occupation, I actually grieve for Israel's loss of character due to it.

All I said is, that if you are to detain anyone, then you better detain those who are prone to harm others in the future rather than those who caused harm in the past but are unlikely to cause any more harm.

While self-defense is legitimate, justice is God's responsibility, not man's.
