By Peter Bowden, published 1/9/2020

Then, at its most basic, helping others, preventing harm, is the overriding moral belief that should drive our approach to the Corona Virus pandemic.

Well Pete, its like this. You as a private enterprise moralist pushing the secular alternative to morality called "ethics", should be careful in your criticism of religious people.

It is your lot that covered for gay rights and the march of homosexuality as a healthy alternative, and used the platform of education as a bridgehead between morality as was, and ethics as is.

It was also this convenient and effective cover, which was a hidey hole for a powerful sect inside the Catholic Church, which promoted and guided the molestation of minors towards the alater of equality, by a not insignificant group of debauched homosexuals calling themselves priests!

Religious morality might still have a few very rough edges, but it's from long term cultural norms, its origin.

The latest from the camp of the "educated", is BLM. That's not going too well for the Democrats now though is it!
Just another example of ethics over morality failure.

>are obviously ignorant of the teachings of Jesus Christ

Is this serious ? I would expect this revelation form a teenager suffering the angst of discover the hypocrisy of Christianity for the first time, perhaps the author is just a late developer ?. There is barely a religious person who isn't a complete fraud that picks and chooses what's convenient, have they ever read that toxic tome, the Bible ?

The only person I can think of who is someday decent, was the lady in Tasmania a couple years ago that refused to pay her taxes because the Government was using the money to kill other people. A bit like Thoreau in that respect, she went to jail fr it. Unfortunately I am not as brave as her.

Gandhi pointed this out amongst others as well, I like your Christ, you Christians are so unlike your Christ. I do come across the very occasional Christian who seems ok, but they're good people in spite of the toxicity of religion.

What a gall this man has, suggesting that three Christian Bishops are "are obviously ignorant of the teachings of Jesus Christ". Bowden himself has never revealed any expertise in Christianity. And, according to him, objections to abortion are "easily negated". For him, perhaps, as an obvious anti-Chrisrian bigot! As for his reference to a Vatican statement, the current Pope has long shown himself to be off the planet, and more of a Leftist urger than a Christian and a meddler in politics that Bowden and his sort object to when three other churchmen make their feelings known. What a hypocrite!

"There are many examples of religious people dictating to us what and how we should believe", squawks Bowden, apparently convinced that he is not doing just that himself. He has used the China virus vaccine discussion to give Chrisianity a good caning for just about everything it stands for and he objects to.

'Then, at its most basic, helping others, preventing harm, i'

yeah Peter I suppose like the Nazi's you rename the unborn to pretend they are not human. If this is ethics keep your putried dogma to yourself and stop virtue signalling which is about all that is left for atheist to do.

We do not know why these fetuses were aborted in 1973? We do know that it was very difficult back then and usually had to have a good medical imperative to obtain!

That a human life that is stilled is one that has a heartbeat! And not the case here!

And this genetic material would otherwise have been treated as if it were human faeces and flushed!

That none of this 1973? material is used but cloned material, cloned from the cell line.

Do any of these alleged religious leaders have any moral objection to kidney transplants, heart transplants, cornea transplants? The latter, human material taken from fully developed, just dead, donars.

All of it, no longer viable human material! In other words taken like an aborted fetus, from something that had no independant heartbeat.

And in the case of the, in question, aborted fetuses? Never ever had!

No late-term termination would ever have contributed genetic material to this cell line! Doctors had and have superior moral values!

Some of these alleged leaders would have supported euthenasia? Where a beating human heart is deliberately and knowingly stilled. Talk about hypocracy writ large?

When an effective vaccine is available, those refusing, regardless of their station, should be quarantined on Chrismas Island, lest they, as potentially infected carriers, do kill or harm other humans, with actual beating hearts!

Peter,

You ostentatiously condemned the 3 Christian leader (RCC, Anglican & Eastern Orthodox) for failing to choose the greater good, a workable vaccine for the pandemic, on the orders of three morally questionable prelates. 'Morally questionable'??

It seems as though you deliberately excluded their reasons for objecting to this Covid-19 vaccine on trial. 'Three of Australia's leading religious voices have written to the Prime Minister with their concerns that the COVID-19 vaccine will be "ethically tainted" by aborted fetal cells', https://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/health-and-wellness/religious-leaders-ethical-concerns-of-vaccine-misplaced-expert-says-20200824-p55otg.html

You don't want to take a stand in favour of these ethics, which support the value of unborn human life. Instead, you accuse these 3 leaders of being 'obviously ignorant of the teachings of Jesus Christ'. That's a statement about Peter Bowden's ignorance. Jesus supported the ethics of these 3 leaders, 'You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment' (Matthew 5:21).

These leaders called on the government to 'ensure a different "ethically uncontroversial" vaccine also be made available'. This is sound ethical practice for those who consider all human life - from conception to natural death - is precious because all people are made in the image of God and are not animals.

I also have concerns about the Oxford University vaccine using aborted fetal tissue. It's a genuine concern for those of us committed to the authority of Scripture.

'Modern biology teaches us that ancestors are united to the progeny by a continuous material link, for it is from the fertilization of the female cell (the ovum) and the male cell (the spermatozoon) that a new member of the species will emerge. Life has a very long history, but each individual has a very neat beginning — the moment of its conception' — French geneticist Dr. Jerome Lejeune, http://www.hollandsentinel.com/article/20160516/NEWS/160519089 See Lejeune, 'Genesis of human beings', http://www.amislejeune.org/index.php/en/jerome-lejeune/jerome-lejeunes-message/conferences/adam-et-eve-ou-le-monogenisme

Isaiah 44:24 confirms the child in the womb is human: 'This is what the Lord says – your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb....'
