Spiked concerns: the Melbourne coronavirus lockdown : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 10/7/2020

Before journalists had time to file, or arm chair warriors time to muster their thoughts, the coronavirus beast had gotten away from an Australian state that had prided itself in reining in numbers and playing the game of suppression.

"Armed police". Is this bloke suggesting that police should be disarmed to deal with hot hotheaded immigrants "with a less than sympathetic disposition to the boys and girls in blue" (his own admission).

The tower block situation is as much a problem as the pandemic itself, highlighting the dangers of multiculturalism, tribalism and the confining of certain categories of people into large colonies.

Everything wrong with Victoria, the stupid electing of an extreme socialist government with and even more extreme leader who thinks its a good idea to do deals with the Chinese Communist Party, has blown up at once.

Our loose-mouthed Prime Minister's idiotic "we are all Melburnians now" is a shocking insult to the rest of Australia.

I love it, when as usual, I'm right once more.
I explained the logic of letting the virus "run rampant", as someone colorfully described, but Vic is just a small example of the fact that this virus will not simply go away by everyone isolating or quarantining.
It will get those who are susceptible, whether sooner or later.
Even if a vaccine is forthcoming, I am skeptical about it's ability to perform as required, either in intensity or in it's effectiveness.
You might stand a chance if you live in the bush and kill/grow/forage your own food, or basically, not have ANY contact with people or places where people have been or go.
If the people in the towers are pissed off, imagine how they would feel if they had to live in the bush and go all Robinson Crusoe?

Yet another excellent example of the danger of overpopulation.

Well, how predictable for a jubilant, celebrating (blame gaming) Greg Sheridan to be blaming Danial Andrews for the non-compliance of folk that the right-wing press was reporting as a giant conspiracy or fake news.

And just because we have been hugely successful in our suppression strategy, we will have to continue to socially distance and observe good hygiene, however bothersome that may be for some lazy or seriously stupid individuals. Until if and or when we get a vaccine!

This covid-19 has already claimed more casualties than 2 world wars with a death toll as high as 5%. And it hasn't gone away!

So, follow the advice of the experts, not that of dumb as, political enthusiasts!

And wear a mask if social distancing is not doable.

Don't be afraid to tell the occasional dumb bum that closing up in the queues doesn't make them advance any quicker! Nor does complaining about social distancing. It's just not hard to do!

Understand that the evidence is that up to 80% of the cross infections are spread by aerosol droplets. And that a sneeze can send these droplets up to 30 feet away. And that where masks are used, that cross-infection is reduced by up to 80%? And the risk is further reduced by good hand hygiene!

Music can assist with your mental health! Anything that gets you on your feet and moving with the rhythm or singing along! Worry about what you can control and nothing else, ok.

Take care and stay safe.

Surprised no one is talking about the elephant in the room. These outbreaks are directly linked to Muslim communities ignoring Covid19 restrictions. The issue isnt a "language" barrier, its a cultural one.

working for RMIT you are hardly going to criticise Chairman Dan. Multiple little hissy fits directed at Trump. What do you expect from the swamp?
